Sprucing Up Robin Hole

Leeds County’s activity centre at Burley Woodhead, near Ilkley, is being brought back to life after a long stint of being closed due to the Covid pandemic. It’s not ready to book yet, but we wanted to share all the hard work we’ve been doing.

Our little campsite, called Robin Hole, is equipped with residential accommodation for Girlguiding and Scouting groups. Volunteers in Leeds have been busy cleaning, building, painting, moving, emptying and refreshing throughout the summer months.

We spent July washing down the play equipment, exterior building paintwork, fire escape doors and outdoor seating. The wood store has also been removed and rebuilt!

Inside we’ve been busy tearing out a kitchen and clearing the waste while giving our bedrooms, sluice and store rooms a good clean out.

There is still lots to do in August! The Beck needs to be cleared a bit more, a new kitchen is being installed, new window coverings are being looked at and the whole site needs to be decorated. We’re hoping the site might be ready in September if all goes well.

Although we likely won’t see groups overnight this year, we are hoping to make the site available for day and evening visitors as soon as possible.

If you would like to help get the site ready even faster, please join us on September 4th, 2021 for another cleanup day. Even an hour will help! Watch our Facebook page for more details.
