We have a dynamic team who volunteer their time to support the successful running of the County, our properties and our activities. We are always looking for new faces to join this team, to help us grow and develop. If you have an interest in volunteering in a new way, this could be the opportunity for you!
To be a volunteer you must be 18 or over and a member of Girlguiding (or willing to become one). You don’t need to have any specialist skills, qualifications or experience, just an enthusiasm to join in and help out.

Training Co-ordinator – Are you an excellent communicator ready to make a big difference to local guiding?
We are looking for two people to work with our training team to help plan and deliver the annual training programme for the County. Once the plan is agreed you would be ensuring that trainings are advertised and that training events go smoothly by being the link between the office, the trainers and the venue.
The “Essential Training” Coordinator will help with understanding and ensuring current and future needs for mandatory training for the County’s adult volunteers is met.
The “Skills & Opportunities” Coordinator will help with understanding and ensuring current and future needs for any other training for the County’s adult volunteers is met.
These roles doesn’t involve delivering training although it would give you an overview of what is involved if you are thinking about your Girlguiding Training Qualification. The admin itself in terms of taking bookings and booking venues is handled by our office so this wouldn’t be part of the role.
Wider Opportunities Team Lead – Are you passionate about supporting the next generation of volunteers and driving the future of Leeds County?
The Lead volunteer will help manage and guide a team of other enthusiastic volunteers who are helping the County encourage our younger volunteers from the age of 13+.
You will help to develop and implement a strong, innovative and effective strategy to help with supporting volunteers age 13+ in Girlguiding Leeds. You will help to maintain the vital connection with our volunteers and young members, as well as growing our membership.
County Secretary – Are you quick at noting the key points and remembering the facts?
We are looking for a new Secretary to support our County Executive. Do you know anyone who can help? Responsibilities will include taking minutes at meetings and preparing documents prepared by team members to send out prior to the meetings.
We meet approximately 4-5 times a year for 2 hours if on an evening, or all day on Saturdays for more strategic meetings. We alternate between Zoom and face to face. Our meetings are always interesting and provide an insight into the Governance of the County.
The person appointed will need to complete a Girlguiding DBS and be a member of Girlguiding, if they are not already. Ideal characteristics will be: highly organised, a good communicator, flexible and able to maintain confidentiality.
Inclusion & Diversity – Are you committed to making sure Girlguiding is an inclusive and fun hobby for all?
We are looking to expand our inclusion team. The aim of our inclusion team is to support Girlguiding Leeds volunteers to allow their units to be inclusive of members from all backgrounds and support their Girlguiding journey.

Finance, Risk and Staffing Committee – Do you know your budget from your balance and your assets from your audit? Could you assess a request and approve the appropriate grant?
The newly renamed Finance, Risk & Staffing committee meet 2 or 3 times a year to discuss the county finances, approve event budgets and set the budget for the county each year, review the risk register and ensure that we comply with our obligations as an employer.
They approve grants for individuals for international trips and other requests. We are always looking for volunteers to join this committee to help us ensure the safe financial future of Girlguiding in Leeds.
Robin Hole & The Trefoil Centre – Can you help us up on Ilkley Moor bar t’at or otherwise for some flexible hours at the beautiful Robin Hole?

Chair of Property Committee – Are you ready to guide Leeds County in all things property related?
We are looking for someone to fill this exciting volunteer position. The aim of this role is to provide guidance and support to the County and the Property Management Committees on all things property related, from building maintenance to health and Safety.
This is a significant role, which fits into the broader strategy of Girlguiding Leeds to protect these very important assets and maintain their usage for future generations of Girlguiding.
Communications and PR Team – We are hoping to expand our team.
Our team runs the Girlguiding Leeds Facebook page and social media, provides photographic support for the Awards Events and other County events, and advises on branding amongst other things.
We meet approx 4 times a year. Younger members, and new members from across the County would be great to make our team more representative – but we welcome anyone with creative energy and enthusiasm!

IT’S ALL ABOUT – Growth + Retention + Valuing members: WE NEED YOU TO JOIN OUR AMAZING TEAMS
We know that the last couple of years have been a challenge and we have seen a loss of girls and volunteers from Guiding. The county team really wants to help you to grow your units, allow girls to transition to the next section and enable units to be open to girls and women from all backgrounds.
The aim: to help support leaders to grow their units back to pre-2020 levels (if not higher). Explore and encourage ways for girls to transition through sections, supporting divisions in the creation of new units where appropriate. Supporting leaders to stay on in roles and spread the load.
The Recruitment & Raising Awareness Team – Have you got an eye for design, a desire to promote girls’ voices and a passion for making a positive change?
You will help to develop and implement a strong, innovative and effective strategy to help with recruitment and raising awareness of Girlguiding Leeds.
You will help to maintain the vital connection with our volunteers and young members, as well as growing our membership through engaging written, graphic and video content.
Valuing Members Team – Have you moved through the sections? Can you inspire other units to keep their girls in guiding for longer?
This team will cover adult retention and recognition, keeping girls in guiding longer, flexible guiding, training and well-being. We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about valuing our members.
We have established a new Thanks & Recognition Team and a Well-Being Team who are doing some great work in these areas. We are now looking to extend the wider team. It doesn’t matter your level of experience.
This could be an ideal opportunity for someone working on their Queen’s Guide or a Ranger who has been through every section and has ideas about how to retain girls. Or someone who has professional experience within an area of diversity. Your enthusiasm is the key!
